This is about much more than Star Wars—it is about media bias and “information disorder” in the twenty-first century.
William Proctor is Principal Academic in Film and Transmedia at Bournemouth University in the United Kingdom. He earned his PhD at the Centre for Research in Media and Cultural Studies at the University of Sunderland, and has published extensively on popular franchises and fan cultures including Star Wars, Star Trek, Batman, James Bond, Stephen King, and A Nightmare on Elm Street. His books include <i>Global Convergence Cultures: Transmedia Earth</i> (with Matthew Freeman), and <i>Disney’s Star Wars: Forces of Production, Promotion and Reception</i> (with Richard McCulloch). He is currently working on his next book, <i>Reboot Culture: Comics, Film, Transmedia</i> (for Palgrave Macmillan), as well as a new edited anthology titled <i>Horror Franchise Cinema</i> (with Mark McKenna for Routledge).
