Contingent is a digital magazine of history that believes people should be paid for their work. As an independent non-profit, we rely solely on the financial contributions of our readers to pay the magazine’s contributors and staff, and to support the ongoing costs of maintaining the site and the organization. (You can read a breakdown of our budget here.)
The best way you can support the magazine is by becoming a monthly giver. Most of our financial support comes from people who donate a few dollars each month, providing us the stability we need to maintain our regular publishing schedule and plan for special issues and roundtables.
Set up a recurring donation of at least $3 a month and you’ll gain access to three donor-exclusive pieces a year and other bonus content.
Set up a recurring donation of at least $5 a month and you’ll receive all the above plus a handwritten thank-you postcard in the mail featuring art by our multi-talented board member Ravynn Stringfield.
Set up a recurring donation of at least $10 a month and you’ll receive all the above, including the postcard, plus a Contingent sticker.
You can also make a one-time donation equivalent to a year at one of the above levels ($36, $60, or $120) and receive the related thank-you gifts and access to donor-exclusive content for a year. Current recurring donors can change their monthly donation at any time here.
Use the form below to become a monthly giver today. If you’d prefer to make a one-time donation for now, you can do so here.
We also welcome the old-fashioned check; just make it out to Contingent, Inc., and send it to 12 Mountain St., Apt. 1, Vernon-Rockville, CT, zip code 06066.
